Rotary is the number one service organization in the world – comprised of business and professional leaders united to provide humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary International consists of more than 1.2 million members in 35,000 clubs in over 200 countries. Rotary is nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to men and women of all cultures, races, and creeds.
The main objective of Rotary is service – in the community., in the workplace, and through the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as health, hunger, poverty sanitation, the environment, literacy, and violence. They also support educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers and other professionals, as well as vocational and career development.
People join Rotary for many reasons, but perhaps especially for the camaraderie that develops when people work together for community improvement and connection to an organization the makes as difference in the livers of people all over the world.
